Checks with the gynecologist
When do you see the gynecologist?
Whenthe pregnancy proceeds without complications, the midwife is the one who accompanies you through the pregnancy. During that guidance, we perform checks to identify any risks in time. If we identify any risks, we will consult with the gynecologist. Often you will go to the gynecologist for a check-up.
Examples of indications for a checkup with the gynecologist are:
- Blood loss in the 2nd half of pregnancy
- High blood pressure in pregnancy
- Gestational diabetes
- You feel your baby moving less
- Breech presentation of the baby
- Suspicion of preterm birth
- Your baby doesn't seem to be growing enough
- Prolonged ruptured membranes without contractions starting
With more tests, the gynecologist can assess whether there is a risk to mother or child. Sometimes they estimate that the risk is increased and will then take over the supervision of your pregnancy and later delivery.
You won't see us again until the baby is born. We will come by for the maternity visits. We can still be reached by phone, should you wish to consult us.
