Contraception

Contraception

After giving birth, contraception is probably not an immediate topic you think about. Because you can be fertile again soon after giving birth, this is a subject we bring up at the end of the pregnancy. We also discuss the various options for contraception during the postpartum period. Together we look at which form of contraception is most suitable. Among other things, it depends on whether you are breast-feeding or bottle-feeding.

Complete breastfeeding can cause ovulation to be delayed longer but does not provide sufficient protection against another pregnancy. We therefore recommend taking additional measures. However, you should get informed about this. Not all contraceptive methods with hormones are recommended if you are breastfeeding your baby. If you are breastfeeding, it is also advisable to use lubricant during sex because your vagina is drier as a result of hormones.
