Suzanne van de Most

I am Suzanne (Suus) van de Most. Together with my husband and three children (all bath-born!) I live in Rotterdam, where I also did my midwifery training. I had my third child during the training, so I was my own object of study!

Before becoming a midwife, I was mainly involved in cooking, healthy eating was a common thread here for me. I ran a catering company, took a health food course and was a cooking teacher at an elementary school. The profession of midwifery had attracted me since high school; it seemed nice to be involved in something as special as having a child.

What I like about midwifery is the bond that develops with the people you accompany. You get very close to people during a special and vulnerable period in life, with childbirth as the highlight. What touches me are the moments when you have the feeling that you can make a difference for someone by really paying attention to them and offering the right guidance, sometimes with just a few words. What I like very much is that I work with so many different parents, for example by guiding people from different cultures my view keeps broadening, I enjoy this.

In addition to my work as a midwife, I enjoy camping in the mountains with my family or having long conversations with my girlfriends while enjoying good food and drink.
